ABOUT THE SCHOOL
HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY
The Deutsche Sprachschule of Central New Jersey, a Saturday school, was founded in 1964 by foresighted parents. In the early 1970's the school was moved from campuses in Plainfield and Bedminster to a single campus in South Plainfield, where it remained until 1991. The school was then relocated to its current location at the Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren-Watchung (NJ), where spacious facilities and ample parking are available.
The school is a non-profit institution and is financed primarily through tuition. It is also supported by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and diverse organizations. The goal is to maintain low tuition fees.
The Deutsche Sprachschule teaches all aspects of the German language in speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. Students are prepared to communicate effectively in German, use correct grammar, appropriate vocabulary, standard orthography and correct pronunciation. In addition, cultural, geographical and historical topics appropriate to each level are an integral part of the curriculum. An extensive library and video collection are available to all students.
The school employs qualified, caring teachers who also teach basic values and study skills in small classes. Close relationship between teachers and parents guarantees profitable learning experiences and success in taking various examinations as: AATG, SAT, AP and Sprachdiplom.
The administration and trustees try to maintain values, standards and procedures as they were initiated years ago. They honor and thank all persons who have contributed their talents, time and energies for maintaining the excellence of a program that benefits all students and their communities at large.
